Green Areas in MEU
Green areas play a vital role in protecting the physical and mental health of individuals. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that at least 9 square meters of green space be provided per person and emphasizes that these areas are indispensable for a healthy environment and sustainable life. Time spent in touch with nature has many positive effects such as reducing stress, improving air quality and increasing the overall quality of life.
As Mersin University, we see our campus areas not only as an academic center, but also as a healthy and nature-friendly living space for our students and employees. The amount of green space per person on our university campuses is 81 square meters, far above the standard recommended by WHO, and is a reflection of our sustainable life policies. These areas provide a peaceful environment in touch with nature where our students can rest and socialize.
With this importance we give to nature and sustainability, Mersin University is taking firm steps towards becoming an exemplary institution not only in academic success but also in environmental responsibility. These large green areas we provide on our campuses are a symbol of our determination for a healthy future.
